Body Contouring

Consultations offered at our three convenient locations in La Jolla, Coronado and Del Mar

Plastic Surgery Carmel Valley

Body contouring is a collection of surgical procedures that enhance the appearance of a patient’s physique. From unwanted fat to loose excess skin, many common, unwanted conditions accompany aging, weight fluctuations, and pregnancy.. To treat these aesthetic concerns, people frequently turn to diet and exercise. However, there is no way to selectively eliminate fatty tissue, and there are no exercises for tightening loose skin. This is why Dr. Daniel Brown and his team offer body contouring procedures. With his different surgical approaches and techniques, Dr. Brown has helped hundreds of patients of all ages looks and feel their absolute best –– and he is ready to accomplish the same with you! The first step is to schedule a personal consultation at our Carmel Valley, La Jolla, or Coronado offices. Here, we will meet with you one-on-one to discuss and determine what procedures are best for you and your desired results. To reach our offices directly, our number is (619) 461-1500.

Before and After Photos

Liposuction

Whether as a result of aging, weight gain, or genetics, our body’s appearance can change. A healthy diet and active lifestyle can help reduce the amount of visceral fat in your body.[1] However, there is another type of fat that is harder to affect with diet and exercise. Subcutaneous fat exists on a more superficial layer of the body, between the skin and muscle. This type of fat helps protect us from outside stressors, regulates heat loss, and protects against the spread of dermal infections.[2] Because this type of fat serves a vital purpose, our body is resistant to burning it. That’s why even after completing a weight loss journey, many patients still have areas of unwanted fat on the arms, bra strap, and flanks. For these areas and more, we use contour liposuction to sculpt away troublesome fat and accentuate a patient’s assets.

Arm Liposuction

Known as bat wings, arm fat can dangle from the upper arm, creating a winged appearance. Typically, fat in this area can make wearing certain tops uncomfortable or embarrassing. To remove this fat, Dr. Brown uses arm liposuction to sculpt away the unwanted fat cells and bring the skin closer to the muscle. This process helps create a tighter arm profile

Bra Strap Liposuction

Another troublesome area where fat can persist is around the middle of the back. For women, this fatty tissue can create a bulge that pushes out from the bra strap. To treat this type of fat, Dr. Brown uses bra strap liposuction. With bra strap liposuction, Dr. Brown carefully removes fatty tissue from the back through an aspirating cannula. Through this process, he can flatten the bulges caused by bra strap fat and make wearing backless clothes like tube tops or bathing suits much more satisfying

Flank Liposuction

Also known as love handles, a person’s flanks can be a remarkably difficult area to treat with diet and exercise alone. For this area, Dr. Brown uses flank liposuction. By minimizing the size and appearance of your flanks, Dr. Brown can streamline the contours of the torso. Liposuction strips the fat cells away from the subcutaneous layer, unveiling a smoother midsection.

SmartLipo

Today’s plastic surgeons have several different liposuction techniques at their disposal. Smart Lipo combines advanced aesthetic technologies for superior results. SmartLipo is a minimally invasive approach to liposuction that uses thermal laser energy to liquefy fat cells, making them easier to suction out of the body. This procedure not only allows for more fat retrieval during liposuction surgery but also results in a shorter recovery.[3] This can be advantageous for those who have little time in their schedule to focus on rest and recovery. With SmartLipo, patients see enhanced, sculpted results in less time.

BodyTite

Typically, a body contouring procedure does one of two things: either eliminate fat or tighten skin. However, the state-of-the-art technology behind Bodytite combines these two desired results in one simple procedure. Bodytite generates radiofrequency energy that releases fat cells from their moorings. The radiofrequency energy also triggers fibroblast cells in deep dermal tissue that then generate new collagen fibers. These collagen fibers replace existing, damaged fibers and tighten the skin. By adding Bodytite to a liposuction procedure, patients see slimmer, more contoured results.

Fat Transfer

Fat transfer has gained popularity in the last few years as a contour-creating alternative to implants. As we age, we lose volume in the face and hands. By relocating unwanted fat cells from one area to the face or hands, Dr. Brown can add a subtle yet unmistakable improvement. Fat transfer can also add volume to the breasts or buttocks by using the patient’s own unwanted fat cells. Many are turning to fat transfer as a longer-lasting, natural alternative to breast implants. Because a fat transfer uses the patient’s own fat cells, there is minimal chance of adverse reactions.

Brazilian Butt Lift

Made famous by Instagram influencers and social media stars, a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is a safe and effective procedure to add volume, shape, and definition to a patient’s backside. First, Dr. Brown begins by removing unwanted fat from one area of the body. After purifying the harvested fat, he then prepares the fat to be injected into the buttocks. Dr. Brown creates an evenly boosted appearance that helps clothes fit tighter and contours appear more pronounced.

Labiaplasty

A labiaplasty is used to reduce the size of elongated labia and improve a woman’s comfort and confidence. Genetics, childbirth, and aging can cause changes that can make a woman insecure with the appearance of her vulva and prevent her from performing everyday activities comfortably. During a labiaplasty, Dr. Brown trims away excess tissue from the delicate vaginal lips to ensure that a woman’s most intimate area is as she desires.

Tummy Tuck

A person can have developed loose abdominal skin that hangs from their body after pregnancy or weight fluctuations. In addition to this excess skin, mothers might have abdominal muscles that separated during pregnancy. Dr. Brown can eliminate this excess skin and realign abdominal muscles with a tummy tuck procedure. Patients who undergo a tummy tuck see a tighter, slimmer abdomen and restored abdominal muscles.

Mini Tummy Tuck

For those who have smaller amounts of loose, excess skin under their belly button, Dr. Brown typically elects to perform a mini tummy tuck procedure. With a mini tummy tuck, Dr. Brown removes excess tissue from only above the pubis exclusively. A mini tummy tuck is ideal for those who don’t have enough loose skin or the muscular displacement that requires a full tummy tuck procedure.

Mommy Makeover

A mommy makeover is a bespoke collection of surgical procedures to address the unique changes brought on by motherhood. We can include body contouring procedures like liposuction and tummy tuck as well as include breast surgeries like augmentation or lift. By combining these procedures into one comprehensive surgical session, you only have to go through one recovery phase. Be sure to ask what can be included in a mommy makeover during your consultation!

Thigh Lift

Loose skin can surround the entirety of our upper legs. To treat this loose skin, Dr. Brown performs a thigh lift procedure. Carefully placed incisions allow Dr. Brown to remove excess skin and eliminate sagging tissue from the inner and outer thighs. After a thigh lift, a patient can enjoy smoother contours, tighter skin, and improved mobility. This procedure eliminates chafing during activity and makes wearing certain bottoms like tight pants and bathing suits more comfortable.
